On March 22, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced the creation of a multimedia production studio in Montréal.
The Montréal subsidiary of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, which is headquartered in Burbank, California, will house departments responsible for high-end interactive gaming product development, digital and cinematographic animation, quality assurance for products developed by the Montréal studio, as well as the adaptation and translation of its products into various languages. The studio is expected to employ 300 people by the end of 2015.
This follows recent announcements by California-based THQ and Norway's Funcom. Like Warner, these two world leaders in interactive entertainment software development and online video game development have chosen Montréal to pursue their rapid growth. All three have lauded Québec's creative talent and public support as deciding factors.
Québec is home to one of the world's largest creative talent pools of developers, artists and technicians. The interactive game industry in Québec represents close to 80 companies specializing in publishing interactive games, development, software design and related services. These companies employ more than 7,000 specialists and benefit from Québec's attractive competitive advantages.
