GE Canada, a subsidiary of the American multinational General Electric, plans to invest $63.5 million in its GE Aviation facilities in Bromont over the next six years.
The plant, which employs 545 people, specializes in hot and cold forging of jet engine compressor blade tips. The investment will enable the plant to manufacture new aircraft engine components such as metal ventilator leading edges, turbine blade tips and low-pressure compressor blade tips. The project will benefit from financial support under the Strategic Support for Investment Program (PASI) administered by Investissement Québec, and is expected to create 80 jobs by 2016.
